🚪 Hall Pass Locations
Choose each destination and set its own limit. Select Unlimited for destinations such as Out for Lunch.
🚻 Optional Boy / Girl Limits
These limits apply within each limited destination. A destination set to Unlimited ignores these limits so your whole Grade 8 group can use Out for Lunch.
Example: Bathroom limit = 2, Boys = 1, Girls = 1 allows one boy and one girl in the Bathroom category at a time.
🔊 Queue Voice Announcements
When a waiting student becomes Ready to Go, ClassroomHQ can announce their name using a speech voice available on this device. The app prefers a local English male-sounding voice when one is available. Voice choices differ by device, so use Preview to choose the one you like best.
For privacy, ClassroomHQ filters the picker to voices the browser reports as local/on-device. No Gemini, Google AI, or cloud text-to-speech service is added by ClassroomHQ.

Local Data Protection
Encrypted on this device: classroom data is encrypted before it is written to browser storage. No student accounts, ads, analytics, AI APIs or cloud database are used.
Backup & Restore
Backups are encrypted files that you control. You can save them to Files, OneDrive, Google Drive or another location you choose. ClassroomHQ does not upload them automatically.
Offline Status
The app shell is cached for offline use. After one successful online load, ClassroomHQ can run without internet for normal classroom use.

This removes ClassroomHQ classroom data from this browser on this device.
🔐 Privacy & Data Flow
Purpose: ClassroomHQ is designed as a privacy-minimized classroom management tool. It does not require student accounts. Use only a student's first name plus last initial (for example, Tracy B.).
What classroom information is stored?
Teacher-entered information may include a minimized student identifier, optional gender category, attendance, points/behaviour tallies, Hall Pass destination, queue status, and Hall Pass timestamps/history.
Where is classroom data stored?
On this device: ClassroomHQ stores classroom state in this browser/PWA's local storage. The app has no classroom cloud database and does not intentionally upload roster, attendance, behaviour, Hall Pass, queue, or timestamp records to Netlify.
Important: Local browser storage is device/browser storage, not a Canadian cloud-storage service. Data residency therefore depends on the device being used. Browser/PWA storage can also be cleared by the device, browser, or administrator.
What does Netlify receive?
Netlify hosts and delivers the ClassroomHQ application files (HTML, JavaScript, manifest and service worker). Opening or updating the app requires normal web requests to Netlify. ClassroomHQ does not contain a classroom database or server function that receives the classroom records listed above.
Hosting-residency note: ClassroomHQ does not claim that Netlify's hosting infrastructure or ordinary web-request metadata remains exclusively in Canada. This is separate from ClassroomHQ's locally stored classroom records.
What leaves the device?
Classroom records: No automatic cloud sync is built into ClassroomHQ. A teacher can deliberately export an encrypted backup; where that file is subsequently saved is controlled by the teacher and may be subject to board policy.
Noise Meter: If microphone permission is granted, sound is analyzed locally to calculate an instantaneous level. Audio is not intentionally recorded, retained, transcribed, or uploaded by ClassroomHQ.
Queue voice announcements: If enabled, ClassroomHQ uses the browser/device speech-synthesis feature to read a student's locally stored display or phonetic name when their turn becomes ready. The app only offers voices the browser reports as local/on-device. ClassroomHQ does not send student names to Gemini, Google AI, or another cloud text-to-speech API.
Normal website traffic: Loading or updating the app creates ordinary network requests to the web host. ClassroomHQ does not use advertising, third-party analytics, tracking SDKs, AI APIs, or student logins.
Data-flow summary
Roster, Hall Pass, attendance, points and behaviour data stay in the app's local browser storage.
Netlify → device
Netlify delivers the application files. ClassroomHQ does not intentionally send classroom records back to Netlify.
Optional export → teacher-selected destination
Encrypted backups leave ClassroomHQ only when the teacher deliberately exports one.
Data minimization
Use first name + last initial rather than full legal names. Do not enter student numbers, addresses, birth dates, medical information, parent information, passwords, or other information that is not necessary for the classroom-management purpose.
Security & limitations
Optional local encryption is available in Settings. Encryption can reduce exposure of stored classroom data, but it does not make the device immune to compromise and does not prevent browser storage from being erased. Teacher Mode and Student Mode are display/privacy modes, not authentication barriers.
Board review
This describes the current technical design of ClassroomHQ. It supports privacy/security review and is not a claim of school-board approval, legal compliance, or Canadian residency for Netlify's hosting infrastructure. Final use should follow board privacy, IT, records-management, and device policies.
